India's 'Mr Clean' PM cornered by anti-graft drive

Congress Party won the elections in 2004, the decision to appoint the Prime Minister Singh, as it was in part based on his record as "Mr. Clean" Indian politics.
But in the last years his reputation has taken a beating with a number of high-profile, multibillion dollar against corruption, fraud involving senior officials.
His administration has made some significant errors in the processing of the phenomenon Hazare, like 74 years arrested in attempt to prevent the planned hunger strike to force the government to a more powerful anti-corruption laws.

"Now credibility of PM is seriously damaged by the decision to arrest, then release Hazare. He has completely misread the public mood," said Zoya Hassan, Professor of Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
